Applications Using HTML Help Stops displaying their help giving the error “Navigation to the webpage was canceled”
Hello,
Applications such as SAP GUI may stop displaying their “SAP Library” Help after installing microsoft’s update KB896358,
an update that handles with vulnerability discovered in HTML Help that could allow remote code execution.
unfortunatlly many important applications sttoped showing their important help topics regarding microsoft’s good will of protecting us.
to resolve this issue use the following VBS script i wrote:
TrustedHelpSites.vbs
Set WshShell = WScript.CreateObject(“WScript.Shell”)
WshShell.RegWrite “HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\ItssRestrictions\”, MaxAllowedZone ,”REG_DWORD”
WshShell.RegWrite “HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\ItssRestrictions\MaxAllowedZone”, 2,”REG_DWORD”
